Description

The story opens on Computer Programmer Sophia Meadows holding a bottle of tranquilizers as her husband, Richard, leaves her. The story quickly moves on to an unseen person hacking into bank accounts to commit fraud, with DI Marcus Armstrong and his team trying to put a location trace on it, determined to break the fraud ring blackening the country he loves. When they hit jackpot with the location, Marcus is quick to put the flat under surveillance.

Meanwhile, when Sophia’s university friend, Aneella, visits after many years absence, seeming to offer the perfect solution – house swapping for a few weeks, Sophia is easily persuaded into the plan, desperate to find a safe haven in Scotland.

Marcus and Sophia’s worlds collide when Marcus arrives at Aneella’s flat following Lyle, a man claiming to be Aneella’s boyfriend, discovered in the flat. There is an instant attraction between Marcus and Sophia, yet Sophia becomes a suspect as she realizes all is not when it seems with her friend. After threatening texts, further break-ins and being followed down dark alleyways, a scared Sophia turns to Marcus and agrees to help him with the case, trying to decipher a set of codes found in an address book which seems to hold an important key. But is her life already in danger? And is Marcus right to lay everything on the line to help her?
